    Q2054 Spools. See full-size picture C1880-1900, PA. Cute country, quilt. The work on the quilt is rather primitive. The blocks and sashing are not evenly pieced and the quilt is not square. Perhaps the work of a young quilter? What the maker lacked in sewing skills is offset by great colors (primarily indigo blue and red, with touches of green and cheddar). Indigo blue print back. Hand pieced; utility quilting around the pieces and through the blocks at 4 stitches per inch. Unused, excellent condition. 62 x 75.     Q5115 Four Patch. See full-size picture C1880 IN. A nice selection of early calicoes set on a rich, chocolate brown background print which is very interesting and beautiful in itself. Three borders: indigo, chocolate brown floral, and a dark green calico. Binding is the brown floral print. Hand pieced. Backing is a green calico. Never washed and in excellent condition.     Q5043 Broken Star. See full-size picture C1930. Bright colors (blue, pink, orange, yellow, green, purple) set on soft lemon yellow ground. Back is the same yellow. Quilted in straight line, cross-hatch and around the pieces, at 7 stitches per inch. Thin batting. Very good condition. Clean, washed; soft feel.
